Buying a gift card

Gift Cards are available for purchase from the Information Kiosk, which is located on the Lower Level near The Tie Stop.They are available in denominations from R50 to R2 500 and are valid for three years from purchase date. Should you wish to purchase cards of a larger value, more than one gift card will be issued.

Purchase logistics

You can use cash, a debit card or credit card as payment. Electronic Transfers are permissible for bulk purchases. To order a Gift Card in advance, please contact 011 217 6000.

Remember to have proof of identification with you. In terms of the new FICA legislation, Nelson Mandela Square is now required to make a copy of your ID document/driver's license when you purchase a gift card. The information kiosk officer will simply scan the relevant document using an A5 scanner situated inside the kiosk.


Some pointers to note:

• Positive identification is required on purchase for FICA purposes, as stipulated by banks.
• The signature panel on the back of the card must be signed upon receipt.
• The Gift Card can be spent in stages at various stores, but remember to check your balance.
• The Gift Card cannot be replenished. Once all funds have been used, please destroy the card.
• The Gift Card is accepted by all Sandton City Shopping Centre stores as a ‘credit card’, with preloaded credit.

Checking your balance
Confirming the balance on your Gift Card has never been easier, with a variety of options available to you:

• Visit the Nelson Mandela Square Information Kiosk or call 083 918 7700
• SMS your Gift Card number to 34543
• Retrieve your gift card balance on any of the touch screens situated throughout Nelson Mandela Square. Simply push the gift card icon at the bottom of the store directory, enter your gift card number and your available balance will appear on the screen.

Corporate Gift Card purchases

Nelson Mandela Square Gift Cards are excellent rewards for employee incentives and can also be used as alternatives to year end bonuses.

Should you wish to purchase our Gift Cards for your organisation:

• Send an email request to eirwen.polyblank@liberty.co.za or , denashree.govender@liberty.co.za
• The email request must contain the following:
  •  The company name
  • The company’s physical address
  • The company’s VAT number
  • The denominations and quantity of cards required
  • The details of the person who will be collecting the vouchers including their full name, contact number and ID number
• An invoice will then be issued to the company
• Payment may be made by EFT or credit card (so long as the card holder is present)

Once payment has been processed, the gift cards may be collected.
